At Pivot Marketing, we don’t just talk about work-life integration, we live it.

This summer, our Burlington, VT office team and our remote teams in MA, NH, NY, and TX are showing how blending work with personal life can lead to greater creativity, productivity, and happiness. With our work culture emphasizing flexible schedules, at Pivot we embrace what it means to fully integrate our work and personal lives, all while still getting things done and enjoying life.

What is Work-Life Integration at Pivot?

Work-life integration is all about finding a natural blend between your personal and professional lives. At Pivot, we know too well the challenges of trying to balance between both. From summer camp pick up, family coming to town, and just trying to soak up the sun before it’s too late—all the while maintaining performance at work.

Pivot’s founder, Becca, asked herself, what if balancing work and life didn’t have to be so hard?

“When I became a mother, I was struck by how often I felt forced to choose between being present for my children and advancing in my career. It simply didn’t make sense to me that these two parts of my life couldn’t coexist. When I founded Pivot, I did so with the belief that work shouldn’t require sacrificing what matters most. Integration became one of our core values because we wanted to build a culture where people could show up fully - as professionals, parents, creatives, adventurers, and humans. To this day, integration at Pivot means making space for real life. It means valuing our team’s passions, families, and well-being just as much as we value great work. Because when we honor the whole person, the work is better, and so are we.”

That’s where our value of integration was born. We believe that life becomes easier when we recognize that work and life aren’t separate; in fact, they compliment each other. At Pivot, we focus on making both aspects of life work together in a way that fosters balance, wellness, and joy.

1. Flexibility That Fits Our Lives

For many of us, summer means a change of pace. Whether it's spending more time with family or traveling to new places, Pivot’s flexibility lets us adjust our workdays around our personal lives. “Integration is the encouragement I get to cut out for a bit

midday to read with my youngest daughter's class with my oldest daughter,” says Becky, our wonderful VP of Brandy Strategy.

This flexibility is key to maintaining work-life integration at Pivot. And it’s not just about when we work, but where we work too. For example, our HR & Operations Support Wendy loves being able to work in her backyard while her dog Riley enjoys the sun: “I’m happy to work while giving Riley some outside time - even if she chooses to be in the direct sunlight on a 90 degree day!”

Whether it’s at home, at a local café or co-working space, or at our water-front office in Burlington, we each make it work in a way that’s best for us.

2. Employee Wellness Comes First

At Pivot, we know that taking care of our well-being is crucial to being effective at our jobs. That’s why our annual employee wellness challenge, run by none other than our amazing HR & Operations Support Wendy, is a core part of our summer routine. From healthy recipe ideas, simple exercise suggestions, to mental health tips, our team prioritizes each other’s wellbeing.

One of our amazing Digital Marketing Associates, Ant, enjoys getting out for an

afternoon run. “My lunch break is just a 5k, disguised as down time,” says Ant. Ant is training for the New York City Marathon, where he’ll be running to raise money for the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN). You can donate to help Ant meet his fundraising goal and help raise awareness for Autism here. We are so proud to support Ant and his cause.

It’s not just about working to live, it’s about feeling whole in both.

3. Work-Life Integration in Action

What does work-life integration look like on a day-to-day basis? It’s about creating a seamless flow where our personal and professional lives meet. Integration allows our team to work and live how it works for them. Recently, our leadership team got

creative on the road: “Integration is taking the work meeting on a drive with the top down in the sunshine!” says Ange, our hilarious co-founder.

It also means taking meaningful breaks when you need to. Whether it’s a lunch break to unwind at a local park, a quick afternoon workout to keep your mind sharp, or supporting causes you believe in, Pivot’s culture encourages this integration.

“Integration equals being able to practically roll out the front door of the office to go inline skating on the Burlington bike path after work,” says Anna, our other incredible Digital Marketing Associate.

These examples of work-life integration show how we’re blending our personal time with our professional responsibilities, allowing for more creativity and focus when it’s time to work.

4. A Fun Workplace Culture

At Pivot, we believe that creating a joyful workplace is about fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and connected. Summer at Pivot has been filled with opportunities to laugh, collaborate, and just have a good time with our colleagues.

“The other day a few of us at the (Burlington) office had a co-working moment in the conference room while we watched Almost Famous in the background. It was the perfect hot day activity!” says Katie, our Digital Content & Engagement Specialist.

It’s these kinds of moments that lead to more fulfillment on our team. When we have the opportunity to integrate work with the rest of our lives, there’s more space for productivity and joy.
